What a weekend in Kansas City!!

After winning gold with his CAPITAL teammates at the Junior Olymplic's Junior men's sabre team event on Friday and placing 21st in the Junior (20 and under) individual event on Saturday, Alessandro Contreras wasn't done yet. This afternoon, he took 5th in the Cadet (16 and under) individual event. What an outstanding weekend for Alessandro, his proud papa Felix, CAPITAL coaches Dariusz and Aaron, and all our hardworking, competing CAPITAL fencers! We are so proud of all of you!

CAPITAL Cadets Shine at the European Circuit Cup

Capital fencers Alessandro Contreras and Honor Johnson delivered amazing performances as members of the US team in last week’s European Cadet Cup in Moedling, Austria. More than 370 men and women fencers ages 16 and under represented 27 nations at this highly competitive event. Honor, with focus, commitment, and skill, fenced her way to earn the 8th place medal for the Unites States. Outstanding! Her CAPITAL clubmate Alessandro Contreras battled his way through the men’s challenging field of 173 international fencers to take the 20th spot. He and his dad celebrated by visiting the Louvre in Paris. Nice! Congratulations and BRAVO to Honor and Alessandro for representing CAPITAL and US fencing so brilliantly!

Sweet Success at Columbus NAC

CAPITAL graduate Marta Lasota and CAPITAL fencers Honor Johnson and Amit Hanadari-Levy were all business, and then all smiles at their results, at this month’s US Fencing Association’s North American Cup in Columbus, Ohio. With the support of her coach at Harvard, Peter Brand, and coached by Dariusz, Marta took 7th in the Junior event (ages 20 and under). Her clubmates Amit and Honor earned spots in the top 16 out of a field of nearly 150 fencers. Brava! Brava ladies!
